Image above is a path of concept evolution for that final virus image below. I had to re-learn Blender 3D because I’ve dropped it some time ago due the version and interface changes.
New renderer engine Cycles inspired me to get familiar with that changed interface and add more graphics to microstock portfolio. It took some time to recall the way it works, keystrokes and tricks. But it was pretty quick process.
The worst part was rendering, which took finally around 100 hours, two composite passes and some postprocessing. Cycles is physically correct renderer so it needs time to work, also it requires other tricks than Blender Internal to optimize the speed.

100 hrs of rendering ?? Seriously, you need high end machine and lots of patience !! Looks like you have both :) I have always liked that RBC rendering of yours, but with this virus added, it will be selling well during winter season , I suppose ! Great work as usual !!
And as always thank You for all kind words. It was 100 hours because : I used new rendering engine – Cycles – physically correct, so it traces the rays and doesn’t use any tricks like Blender internal renderer does – although BI is faster and has more features currently.
Second: I had to use some procedural textures (not static images) which involved some math into the process.
And third: my hardware hasn’t enough of power though and I had to switch from GPU to CPU so it made all 4x slower. But with the new aircraft I’ll use some triciks and workarounds I’ve learned, so let’s hope everything will work faster.
That sounds interesting ! Since I haven’t done 3D before, most of them seems complicated :) I’m always fascinated by Interior Design Models…. have to do some research on that ! And I have to upgrade my computer. The laptop which I work on now, doesn’t take any of these renderings !!!!
Some designs look complicated and time ocnsuming but they aren’t, sometimes the psychology or the subject make it looks complex. I have another machine for rendering so it’s a bit easier, although still it takes a lot too much time.
