IStockPhoto ‘on fire’ – new royalties

Istock - competition and conflict

IStock ISchanging

That’s been an extremely hot information, caused a hughe discussion, disappointment, some call that outrage. There is so many words to describe that single news about new royalties on IStockPhoto, new  yearly contributor level changes, secret redeemed credits, changes to Vetta and new content in premium collections.
After the forum thread has been locked a new, more clear statement had to be published by IStockPhoto.

Because it was nearly the same as a previous one, no answers to contributors question after saying “we read each post and we gonna address it”, the next thread got on fire again. It’s really sad to see those reactions of both sides.
But more exciting is the future, what will hapen because of that big change.

This change will affect the whole market because many IStock contributors aren’t exclusive there (work for other agencies) and even those exclusive aren’t satissfied with this new policy.  So the discussions burn on Shutterstock forums, Microstockgroup forum, Twitter – almost everywhere a single IStock artist is present.

Personally I won’t do anything by now, just need to observe the situation and ongoing changes, will see the numbers and then I’ll decide. Besides, I am not the biggest contributor there. Also I’m not an exclusive IStock contributor and wonn’t ever be an exclusive in any microstock, got  my alternative agencies and prefer to stay freelance.

Asking questions
Act Three – The God of Pathos arrives – which means probably – it’s all over and new rules are on.

So the petition of contributors calling for changes is on the way.
